‘Nurtured Heart Approach’ Gala Fundraiser
Educators, parents and healthcare professionals from around the North State will gather to wine, dine and dance later this month in support of raising money for research.
The Nurtured Heart Approach Gala on May 26 will take place at Canyon Oaks Country Club in Chico at 999 Yosemite Dr., and is being held both as a celebration of the Nurtured Heart Approach and, more importantly, as a fundraiser for research being conducted at the University of Arizona.
The evening will include dancing, with live music being provided by local band Webster Moore and the Electric Funk, as well as a silent auction, raffle prizes, no-host cocktails, and a nacho bar. The big prizes of the evening will be two week-long certification trainings with Howard Glasser (valued at $2000 a piece), which will be auctioned off live at the gala.
The Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) is a social-emotional strategy utilized by educators, parents and mental health practitioners that’s having success in transforming negative behaviors, even with the most challenging children. The NHA was developed by renowned psychotherapist Howard Glasser.
Kay Paden, a former school principal who now works as a certified Nurtured Heart consultant and education plan specialist for Butte County schools, says she has seen firsthand how much of an impact the can have on a child.
The University of Arizona study will be exploring NHA as an evidence-based practice, specifically measuring its impact on children diagnosed with ADHD.
The event will begin at 7 p.m., and the general public is encouraged to attend. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. To purchase tickets or to make a donation, click Eventbrite here.
