Lawsuit filed over Mansion fire

California State Parks has filed a civil lawsuit in Butte County Superior Court against the alarm company that was under contract when a 2024 fire destroyed Bidwell Mansion.

The lawsuit filed March 12 says Advantage Total Protection (ATP) failed to conduct a “proper inspection and test” when it took over the monitoring contract, a State Parks press release states.

“The lawsuit alleges that ATP failed to monitor the mansion as required …,” states the March 13 press release. State Parks is seeking $38 million in damages. ChicoSol has not yet reached ATP for comment.

State Parks released a new public survey for input into the development of the Reimagine Bidwell Mansion Vision Plan.

It would be nice to see a learning community center along with a historical museum on the Bidwell’s and the Native American Indians from this area along with the history of the California mining and of coarse our beautiful Bidwell park.
