The Chico City Council at its July 14 meeting approved an ordinance creating “entertainment zones” in downtown Chico and Meriam Park, paving the way for customers 21 and older to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating licensed businesses and consume them in designated public areas. The zones will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The council also directed staff to provide annual updates on the program.
