A hearing will be held at 9 a.m. May 13 in ChicoSol contributor Dave Waddell’s Public Records Act lawsuit seeking withheld records in several Butte County police shootings. The hearing, open to the public, will be at the North Butte County Courthouse in Meriam Park in Chico.
Judge Stephen Benson will consider arguments on a motion for judgment by Waddell’s attorney, Matt Cate of San Francisco.
Waddell’s lawsuit says there has been a “repeated and ongoing failure” on the part of Butte County’s leadership to provide documents that are public records. Defendants include Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey, Sheriff Kory Honea and the Chico Police Department.
