Republican Assemblyman James Gallagher has captured almost 55% of the vote in the race to finish the term of the late Rep. Doug LaMalfa in preliminary June 2 election results posted today.
In the District 1 redrawn by Proposition 50, Gallagher and Democrat Mike McGuire are leading the race for the new term and will likely face off in November.
Early and preliminary election results from Butte County’s Board of Supervisors District 2 showed incumbent Peter Durfee with 62% of the vote and challenger Marianne Paiva with 38%.
In the Board’s District 3, incumbent Tami Ritter ran unopposed.
In the race for California governor, Republican Steve Hilton is leading the pack with almost 28 percent of the vote. He’s followed by Democrats Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer. Becerra is in second place with 25% of the vote. The top two will compete in the November General Election.
