Which calendar category?

Last Monday's hot takes

Last Monday is a column that appears the last Monday of the month.

I’ve been expecting my memory to fade for years, and now it’s leaving on a fast train.  Not wanting to end up wandering the neighborhood in my skivvies, I’ve been looking around for ways to help my old brain, including the calendar software on my computer.

A.P. Porter

I was creating a calendar entry just now, and I realized that I didn’t know which category — health, pleasure, money, et cetera — made the most sense.  I was going to have coffee with a friend I talk to maybe twice a year. They’re a good person, the only sort I can be bothered with. Still, we get together only now and then because we’re not buddies. We’re friends and mostly on the same side of issues, just not emotionally intimate.

So, is a casual coffee date necessarily pleasure? I suppose it should be, and I expected our time together to be pleasant, although they always have something for me to do, maybe simple and easy, maybe not. I was torn. Pleasure or chore?

I could not categorize it until later, true, except that seemed way fussy and wimpy and unnecessary. Chore won. If you and I have occasional coffee, this had nothing to do with you.  You’re a pleasure all the time.
