The Chico City Council will discuss forming an ad hoc committee to review the internal investigation into management of Automated License Plate Reader data. That discussion will take place Sept. 15, and the ad hoc committee would be comprised of Council members Addison Winslow and Mike O’Brien.
The City said it’s investigating Chico PD’s management of the ALPR data after ChicoSol reported that prior to July 8, the data was shared with out-of-state and federal agencies in what may have been violations of state laws.
Councilmember Tom van Overbeek said at the Sept. 1 meeting that he’s concerned about the skepticism community members are voicing in relation to the internal investigation. Van Overbeek’s motion passed 6-1, with Councilmember Katie Hawley dissenting.
