ICE agents arrested a Mexican immigrant at his Chico home the morning of Oct. 9, and according to neighborhood sources, was taken to Sacramento and then transferred to the California City Immigration Processing Center in Kern County.
ICE agents also reportedly went to Citrus Elementary School, where the man had dropped his daughter off, according to a source who asked not to be identified. ICE agents were reported driving five black SUVs.
NorCal Resist Chico posted the morning of Oct. 9 that its Migra Watch team confirmed that ICE had detained a person after arriving at a West 4th Avenue apartment complex. Chico State University officials broadcast an email alert to the campus community in the afternoon.
A neighbor described the man who was detained as “a hard-working person” who provides for his family and “didn’t bother anybody.”
