Sewer rate increases will be smaller

The Chico City Council voted 4–3 at its June 16 meeting to move forward with a sewer charge increase that would raise rates by 55% in each of the first two years, followed by annual increases of 3% over the next three years. Councilmember Dale Bennett again sided with councilmembers Addison Winslow, Katie Hawley and Bryce Goldstein, voting in favor. The rate increase was lower than a previously proposed option due to reductions to the Capital Improvement Plan budget.
